Ubuntu Partitioning

Ok when installing Ubuntu and it gets to the partitioning step, I set for a 10gb partition and it just seems to take ages. I left it for about 15 mins and it didnt finish.

Is this normal for it to take so long?

does it never finish? what version of ubuntu and what sort of HDs and setup are you installing on to?

I havent letf it on for long enough to see if it finishes, and i'm trying to install it onto a 10gb partition on a Maxtor 150gb HDD (SATA).

Ok so I left it on for 2 1/2 hours and it still didn't do it..

Would buying a small cheap HDD do it?

No try partition it before using gparted, parted (non gui) or fdisk then run installer.

It asks for the size of the partition in "MiB", what should I put?

MiB is a common abbreviation for mebibyte. You'd probably think of it as a megabyte. Specify the number of megabytes you'd like to a lot.
