a little story first, i have a dell Server running ESXI in my loft.
i have several vm's i was using 1 vm for remote access and plex, im now enabled WOL for my home pc so will just wake it up when i want to use it.
so the vm (win 8.1) that was also running plex appeared to be using 90W of energy and it was also all over the place with performance so today i got rid of the windows vm and put in place a ubuntu server enabled SSH installed plex and enabled samba and made a few firewall changes and it seems to be ok be surprisingly when its idling its only using 4w and on load 40w so a great saving on energy long term, now im no linux expert so can any 1 suggest any security i should do to this vm and or anything extra i could use it for? thanks
