Recently I put ubuntu back on my thinkpad and set it up with gnome, but one of the issues I've had twice now is that although I've set it not to suspend as I have it always connected to AC and I don't run it on battery power, I do have it set to sleep (or perhaps just turn off the screen) when I close the lid.
The problem is, sometimes when I open the lid everything is fine, but twice now I've opened the laptop and nothing happens. Screen is still off and nothing I press seems to be able to get it to resume, using putty gives a connection timeout and I am left with no option but to hold the power button until the thinkpad turns off.
What could be causing this and how do I resolve it?
