So I just switched to Ubuntu (still have XP installed) and im thinking of switching for good as I decided to leave games behind...
However, the only thing holding me back is the soundcard not working, i've had a look around and found this:

As this is my first real try to switch i'm a little confused as how to install it, any help would be great.

I could do with some suggestions on:
ftp tool
irc chat tool (cant stand pidgin...)
torrent program
I'm trying to install ventrilo as im typing this... wish me luck...
any help is appreciated!
