ubuntu - xbmc help

Aghhhhh help me

I can't get xbmc to run on ubuntu

If i un-install my onboard graphics drivers it runs but slower than a slow thing going slow.

With the drivers installed (version173) i get the following error message - XBMC needs hardware accelerated OpenGL rendering Install an appropriate driver.

And ideas guys?

D'oh i forgot to restart for the updates to complete.

Its still running slowly though

Would this b down the just using the on board graphics?

ok not got a clue how to do that - new to ubuntu and to be honest it's very confusing.
