hey just a quick question for uni students please

There is a lot of confusion over AS levels dropped last year

I understand the points tariff for A levels, i.e C = 80 points

Will i get any points for the AS level i got last year? but dropped this year.

Also is OCR General Studies classed as an A level in the points tariff?

Ive tried googling, cheers

i found that, but as you can see from the selections i cant tell what OCR general studies would be classed as.

+ it doesnt help do i get last years AS level points, as i think that assumes you did an AS level with your A levels if you get what i mean

Like Clerkin said it's half points and the calculator does have a selection just for AS Levels.
General Studies I think is up to the University involved and iirc some don't count AS Levels either.

cheers 4 the help so far, just to give you a clearer idea

ive applied for uni, the offer states 160 ucas points, INC general studies

Last year (my as year) i did

AS business
AS design
AS computing
AS ICT

This year im doing

A2 Busines
A2 Design
A2 ICT
do i get the 30 points AS Computing, from last year?

Or should i ring the uni

Yup you'd get the points from AS Level Computing, I should know as I did the same :D.
Afaik General Studies is an AS/A Level but not 100% sure as I never did it.

Virtually all reputable Uni's do not include General Studies becuase it's pretty worthless.

An offer of 160 points, including GS, is very low. I'd be asking why - is it a decent uni?

its a new course, only 4 places do it, northumbria asked 3 A's for it, Leeds Met want 3 D's, im not very clever and 3 D's is just atainable, i just want 2 go to uni, as im not ready for a full time job yet. I think the course looks and sounds good

Cheers Haly, them 30 points will help me out no end come results time, as i said, im not very clever and actually think il struggle to get 160 points

I found most uni's that I applied for didn't accept AS grades as part of there point tarrif.
Only Staffordshire has, and I'm still waiting on hearing back after my interview.

If you give up an A level and only do 3, does it damage your chances of getting into a good UNI?

i thought it was the common thing to drop one and only do 3. wont effect your chances at all. i only did 2 and didnt get the grades i was supposed to and still got offered a place at uni. dont think Oxford and Cambridge were interested mind.

Please make sure you are going to University for the right reasons becuase if you are not it's an expensive waste of time. University is not for everyone.
