Does anyone on here commute on the Uckfield Line? I'm going to be doing this for a week or so from Crowborough into London so was wondering what services have been like since the timetable changes. Is it still the "misery line" or is it OK? It's been fine on the odd weekend for me but I understand rush hour could be completely different...

Any info much appreciated :)

Nightmare line, think it still uses diesel where the adjoining lines are electric. I'm on the East Grinstead line which joins with the Uckfield line and basically gave up commuting to London.

I live in Crowborough (near the station), I don't do the commute however.

From what I understand, a lot of the issues happen between Crowborough and Uckfield. I think mornings are generally okay (has been whenever I've had to go to London office) but evenings tend to be terrible where they just randomly terminate them.

The good news is, we're relatively close to Tunbridge Wells so can always go over there and get the Southeastern offerings.

Can you go from Eridge (terminates at London Bridge)? Bit of parking and goes to London, although it does stop a fair few times...

Cheers peeps - yes I spotted that you can get a bus to/from Tunbridge Wells so that's an option. I was just trying to suss out how things run generally - I've found similar complaints about trains often terminating at Crowborough and not continuing to Uckfield but then that's not really an issue for me. :)

Yes same for me. EG line is awful now that Thameslink are cancelling trains left right and centre. Thankfully I only get off at East Croydon so as long as there is a train that gets me there before 8am I will be happy. Getting home is another matter.

From the time I lived in Uckfield, yeah it wasn't great. I was fortunate and only used it briefly, my mother however......she hated it.

Cheers for this. The reason I ask is that I'm looking at moving and have narrowed it down to a few places now so am going to do a B&B and the commute to London from each of them for a week. Just trying to get an idea of what to expect, really.

If it's misery then Crowborough would be off my list which would be a shame.
