I have two cards in CF on a UD5 board. It was a pre-build so apologies if this is a stupid question - They are in slots next to each other but the top one is getting very hot. Is it possible to move one to a slot further away?

Cheers

Top one was up past 80 degrees after about 30 minutes of playing DIRT2 - it seemed to be slowing down and struggling so I figured that it was due to it being too hot.

I'll take pic tonight when I get in but pretty sure there is no blockage. I'ts all in a HAF932 btw

yes you can move the card to other pci slot....you have 3. Remember you will need a longer xfiire bridge to reach though. this subject has been covered before if you need more info.

I think both are in x16 slots at the moment - was an OCUK pre build so I assume theyd use those. From what I have just read there are 2 x16 slots on the board.

The suggestion i just had above was to move one to a slot further away - but would that mean one will run slower?

Ah they are fine mate, if your running in both blue slots you are running 2x16 which is that fastest, 80c is fine if they ever go above 95c that is a warning but that gpu themselfs will shut off at 125c i belive to save themselfs so dont worry game on!

What speed is the other slot? If it's 8x tbh the temperatures are more important.

Remember though, the second card is running cooler than a card by itself since its not working as hard as the first card.
