Only had the set since Feb, come today to watch the footy and it's now on a loop turning itself on, and then off after a 10-15 seconds.

Faulty set? Or is there a way to fix it by resetting from the remote or something - can't access the menu as it'll turn itself off before I can get into it.

seems to be ok now... it's apparantly a glitch with smart hub which is affecting lots of people! disconnected from the Internet and it's ok now.

How strange. Bought mine last February, too and while mine hasn't done the loop you mentioned mine has randomly rebooted once or twice this past week.

Weird.. I've got the 55" 6400 and it did exactly this today! I just flicked it off at the power and turned it back on and it's been OK since!

that's a mobo problem . I had the same issue on my 6550 model . Happened within 6 months of me having the tv. eventually it wouldn't come back on. Its an issue with all the Samsung models . Gte it sent for repair asap . I went through Samsung directly. No tv for 2 weeks mind . luckily was able to borrow one. no problems since

It's a software update issue

Richer Sounds had an email about it today as I went in to complain about it. They said the fix is to disconnect the network connection to it (wired is easy but wireless is a pain because of the constant booting). I disconnected my router and then it was all fine

Edit - would help if I read your whole post :p

Heh, exact same thing happend to me yesterday - thought that the TV was broken. Switched it off at the plug, left it several hours then switched it back on again - all good!

That doesn't make sense ..... if it was failing looking for an update due to the wireless connection problem that wouldn't cause a screen blackout. And any update would give a you a warning before installing . Its a mobo issue.

Do you mean a mobo issue due to the update or just a general mobo issue - seems too coincidental to be the latter for all those that it happened to on the same day.

Edit: Just found this:

http://www.i4u.com/2016/06/112784/fix-samsung-smart-tv-rebooting-problem

"The latest Samsung software update is causing problems across Europe. Bad timing as Euro 2016 is under way.

Samsung Smart TVs have problems across Europe this weekend. The latest Smart Hub software update causes the Samsung TVs to enter a reboot loop. This is especially troublesome as the Euro 2016 football tournament is underway. Today Germany is facing off against Slovakia for instance in the first knock out round.

Samsung Germany has posted an official solution to the reboot problem, but it is only a temporary fix. According to a post on the Samsung Facebook page, Smart TV owners need to disconnect their TV from the internet to stop their TV from rebooting.

For a wired internet connection, the network cable has to be pulled out of the TV. For smart TVs with Wi-Fi connection, Samsung recommends to first turn off the Wi-Fi connectivity on your router and then disable the Wi-fi connection in the Smart TV settings. After that you can enable Wi-Fi on your router again.

You need to make sure that both internet connection options are disabled. This means, if you had your Smart TV connected via Ethernet, also make sure Wi-Fi is switched off in the settings.

Samsung's development team is supposed to work on a fix that allows consumers again to use the Smart TV functions such as watching Netflix. In the meantime at least the TV functionality is back and you can watch today's football games.

Samsung has not announced a date for the availability of a software update that will fix the reboot issue.

To release an update on a weekend was bad timing. Especially with Samsung's support off for the weekend. So far we only spotted an official post from Samsung support in Germany. Samsung has not responded to the issue in other countries.

Affected Samsung Smart TV models include the H6400 series, but apparently the bug affects a wide range of Samsung Smart TVs."

It was without doubt a problem with smart hub, hundreds of people were posting on a facebook group page exactly the same time my tv started playing up saying their tv was doing the same thing -

The way I sorted it was to unplug my router, then the TV came on fine and stayed on fine - turned off autostart smart hub in the menu - then turned my router back on and the TV has been on constantly ever since.

It is not a mobo issue in anyway whatsoever.

No it's not, it was a smart hub issue
