The road to erudition

Auxerre v Zenit St Petersburg, (agg 0-1), PO, L2, 19:45
FC Copenhagen v Rosenborg, (agg 1-2), PO, L2, 19:45

This game will arguably make or break Spurs' season, if we go through we get £20-30m and the chance to show Europe we are ready for the next level. If we fail, then fingers will get pointed at the management about their failure to adequately invest, as well as suffering a blow to morale and profile.

No Modric, but Kranjcar was rested for the weekend game at Stoke so I expect him to play 90 mins. Lennon is starting to look back on form, Bale is ridiculously unplayable at times, the big question mark is still over our strike force. Defoe is expected to play, but is carrying an injury that will see him sidelined from an operation after the game. We need investment in that area or the others to really stake a claim at being top players, some product to live up to the price tags is sorely needed.

I'm pretty confident we'll go through, my prediction is 3-1 on the night, 5-4 on aggregate. Kranjcar to score a wonder goal.

Tottenham (from): Gomes, Cudicini, King, Hutton, Bale, Kaboul, Naughton, Bassong, Dawson, Corluka, Jenas, Assou-Ekotto, Walker, Huddlestone, Rose, Lennon, Palacios, Kranjcar, Dos Santos, Crouch, Defoe, Keane, Pavyluchenko.

I predict:

Gomes
Corluka King Dawson Assou-Ekotto
Lennon Huddlestone Kranjcar Bale
Crouch Defoe

Nice to see Palacios showing more what he is capable of, and about time Crouchy showed some aerial dominance!

Bring on the big boys.

Every away allocation will be completely sold out by the time it gets passed season ticket allocation I'm guessing?

I think you may need to consult a calendar but we aren't in the 20th century any longer. :p

I wouldn't say they were the same situations at all.

Besides the fact Spurs were already winning, did Defoe try and "cheat" the ref? I don't think he did, for a start I'd say the ball hit the upper part of his arm and he just carried on and scored a peach of a finish. If it had been spotted he wouldn't have been given a yellow card, where as Eduardo would have.

Diving not only cheats the ref, but it also vilifies the opposing player.

Depends who we draw, I'd love us to draw 2 big teams, but I'd love it more if we went all the way; so 1 massive team and one team about the same standard to provide a challenge would be nice.

Probable silver lining is that they can concentrate on the league if they do.
