It's looking increasingly likely we won't have a winner of this but we'll carry on anyway. It was always going to be an experiment and perhaps we'll just stick to the domestic league versions. :)

You're right, let's see how it pans out. Hopefully we'll have a winner! :)

I'm all for trying new ideas. I did wonder if we could introduce an FA Cup version next season but I'm not entirely convinced this format works. You certainly need to avoid selecting the stronger teams in the early rounds (as one or two alluded to in this edition).

Yes possibly, but surely only the players that selected Spain should go through (or am I missing something?)
 
So mp260767, Silent-Lucidity, Lead_Head are through, we'll reset their selections but they must post a time they think the first goal will be scored up to 120 minutes (to take into account the possibility of extra time).

We can also ask them to predict the number of yellow cards (or perhaps corners is better) so in the unlikely event it's 0-0 after extra time and it goes to pens and there's still no winner we can use this as a backup.

Something along those lines?
