Can't say it's very fair resetting the teams for the final. If I'd known that then I wouldn't have avoided picking the favourites in the first few rounds and I might still be in it too.

Imo it should be that nobody has won and there's 3 joint winners going out at the semi-finals/finals.

to be fair this was a bit of a trial and with the amount of grief being given i wouldn't blame Nossmayo for not bothering in future.
 
Grief? lol. I'm hardly giving grief. I said in the very first thread (linky) that it would be difficult to have an outright winner in the finals so it's hardly a shock occurrence that's caused the rules to be changed.

Imo it's not a bad thing that there isn't an outright winner in the final. They've still done really well to get this far and it's not like the PL last man standing goes on forever and ever by resetting the leading people's choices.

All I was saying is I'd rather have 3 joint winners based on the original rules rather than change the rules (which if originally stated might have meant that a lot more people would be in the final). Or perhaps JUST base the final on a tie-breaker of goal minute/corners like he has as well.

FAO Nossmayo: Didn't mean any grief anyway! Just constructive criticism from a disgruntled round 3 loser :p
 
It's not ideal to have had to change the rules mid-game so that we have a clear winner at the end and I can understand that some may have selected differently in the earlier rounds had they known this at the start.

This version was never to be taken that seriously as we hadn't tried this format before, but I would like to introduce an FA Cup version from next season (in addition to future major International competitions) so it's helpful for everyone who want to be involved to have as much input as possible so we can set the rules and ensure we have a fair game from start to finish.

We could've indeed had three joint winners for this edition, but I'd prefer to have one winner for all versions of the game so we therefore need to establish a clear rule for future cup/ knockout formats in the event of the same scenario happening as this edition where we had a stale mate situation.

I'll create a discussion thread a few weeks prior to the first round of the FA Cup due to be played from Saturday 3rd November 2012 so we can all share our thoughts and hopefully come to a mutually acceptable solution!

Auto-selection is not in play for this round due to the necessity to predict the other criteria.

Commiserations mp260767, a fine effort. :)

So we got there in the end! :p Thanks to everyone for playing in particular Baz who covered for me in Round 2!

Hope to see you all for the opening games of the Premier League & Championship seasons next month and the new FA CUP version later in the year. :)
