Uefi auto overclocking

I've never overclocked before and all the guides just baffle me, so i was wondering what sort of speed i could get my 2600k up to when i get it using the auto overclock feature on the asus uefi bios.

4.8ghz but it will pump hi volts into your chip, your better off googling and youtubing how to oc your chip.

what cooling do you have? what oc do you want?

Yeah, auto over clocks are buggy, what kind of speed are you aiming for?

I set my auto OC to 'extreme' and it gave me 103x50 (5.2xxghz) @ 1.58v disaster.

While I set it to 'fast' and it gave me 103x42 (4.3xxghz) at about 1.40v

Manually so far I'm at 4.8 with 1.312-1.320v depending on offset.

Manual is the way to go, its mind boggling at first, but once you get to know each setting its a breeze

Ill be using the corsair h60 and ill be happy with about 4.5-4.6

also what motherboard do you have?

For 4.5/4.6 you may get away with just (to begin with) leaving all settings on auto, go into the bios, leave the blck at 100 and set the multiplier to 45/46. Then boot into windows and fire up coretemp (for VID) CPU-z (for vcore) and P95/IBT (for stress). And see what VID and vcore the auto voltages set out.

For now yes, pretty much the same board as me. Leaving everything on auto will give you a higher voltage than what you actually need, but it will give you a base line to start from when it comes to finding your lowest manual voltage.

how do i find my lowest voltage?

Scale back notch by notch until your system becomes unstable underload, then revert back to your last stable voltage.
