UEFI Bios & Nvidia GFX

Hi peoples,

I'm reading some things about EVGA gfx cards not working with UEFI bios'. Is this a simple fix in my bios to make them work or does it require a flash to the graphics card? Also is this problem specific to EVGA or is it a Nvidia thing?

I am looking to sort my problems before hand :) as i have an Asus mobo with UEFI.

Waiting on the 760ti ;)

A very small number of motherboards aren't compatible with the UEFI BIOS's loaded on newer Nvidia cards, it's not specific to EVGA at all. The best that you can do is make sure you are running the latest BIOS for your MB.

I would think any problems are likely to be minimal to non-existent though as the 760Ti is likely to be a rebranded 6xx series of some description going by the 770 release so a lot of the compatibility issues are likely to have been resolved already.

Other than the BIOS update keep an eye on the forums here and at EVGA to see what issues araise and if they relate to your hardware.

EVGA do have great customer support so if any issues do arise I'm sure they would put you right.

correct but backwards, the uefi bios is on the motherboard, not the graphics card... when a new graphics card is released sometimes the motherboard needs an update, it is more of a problem on UEFI motherboards because they now need access to the graphics card in a way that older plain text bios' didn't

however, as mentioned, since the lower 7** series cards are very close to 6** series, I would be surprised if they needed an update to support the 760ti when it comes out
some Titan and 780 users needed to, but I don't recall seeing anyone with a 770 having this problem?

I don't think so i am not really worried about accessing any bios' of the gfx card it was just a compatibility worry i have the latest bios update on my mobo.

I think i can turn a few options off in my motherboard to support these cards no problem :)

Thinking about putting my money towards a 770 now, is it still worth waiting for the 760ti to come out will it reduce the price?

Hi,

with some motherboards was a compatibility issue at the very beginning when 7xx released, which is already fixed, we posted for this a BIOS update in our forums so if you face a compatibility issue just download and flash this BIOS then it should work. Generally, issues related to the new BIOSes are very very rare and in total less then 0,1%. If you run a actually motherboard with latest BIOS everything should work well, and if not we will make it work well ;)

Cheers
