UFC 61 takes place this Saturday. It's being aired on Bravo, Monday the 10th at 9pm.

Card is as follows:

Tim Sylvia Vs. Andrei Arlovski
Tito Ortiz Vs. Ken Shamrock
Dan Christison Vs. Frank Mir
Josh Burkman Vs. Josh Neer (is Burkman training with Tito now)?
Yves Edwards Vs. Joe Stevenson
Drew Fickett Vs. Kurt Pellegrino
Jeff Monson Vs. Anthony Perosh
Gilbert Aldana Vs. Cheick Kongo
Hermes Franca Vs. Joe Jordan

Some of the matches are hardly crowd pullers, but I'm really looking forward to the top 3 bouts. Preditions in bold.

Mir really needs to win this one. As I've said previously I'd love to see him as a real contender to the HW title, just like folk assumed he would be before his comeback. With the exception of possibly Vera after a few more fights (too early in his career to tell if he could be a real threat IMO), there's a distinct lack of challengers at HW. If it all goes pear shaped I guess we could just have AA and Tim fighting every second PPV:p

Tito v Ken - does anyone really expect Ken to win this one? Tito has really grown on me since TUF. Still wouldn't say no to watching him tap out, but I just can't see it happening. If Ken does get a lesson in GnP will he finally call it a day?

AA v Sylvia - Going to be a great match. I'm a huge AA fan and think he was unlucky / careless last time. All going to plan he'll be walking away as champ again. Regardless of the outcome, who's next in line for a shot?

Discuss. If possible could this remain spoiler free until after it's aired in the UK?

Haven't got a clue what this is all about but love watching it :D

Looking forward to Tito and Shamrock, we'll see who does the real talking in the octagon.

Shamrock to get a few early punches in but be overpowered and pounded - TKO.

Arlovski to win by knockout.

Don't know anything about Stevenson but from what I've seen of Edwards would expect him to win.

Don't know Mir's opponent but as above would expect Mir to win.

I think this could actually be Shamrocks last fight. Assuming Tito is injury free I think he's just going to be too much for him. Although having said that, hate is a powerful motivator. Just a question of who hates the other more :p

nice 1 thanks for the heads up

monday night is a bit wierd - is it not normally sunday night??

anyway - agree with the predictions above - a fit and healthly Ortiz will kick Ken's ass!!

AA to win by 60 second KO.

Mir looked terribly out of shape on his comeback and i fear that he will possibly lose again but will see.

Looking forward to it!

Yeah, normally Sundays. I guess the change is due to the World Cup Final being on this weekend. It's bad enough trying to stay away from Sherdog when there's only a 1 day delay before it's aired over here.... :p

Arlovski is a machine and i think he'll fill Sylvia in this time! Arlovski fell funny in their last fight, but giving credit to Sylvia he took some serius punched from him!

Tito v Shamrock will be a top fight too..... them 2 hate each other with a passion! :D

I've been waiting for this for a while. It's gonna be great to see Shamrock bounced around the octagon :D The guy's an ass!

I may have to make it Monday Night Fight Night in the Nelson household.

I agree with your predictions apart from the Yves Edwards vs. Joe Stevenson fight.

Joe maybe a great fighter and champ from season 2 of TUF, but Yves Edwards is in the top 3 in the world at his weight and I think Stevenson will be totally outclassed here as I doubt he would even be near the top 10 yet. Yves is an amazing striker and very slick on the ground too.

Ever seen Takanori Gomi fight? He's the no.1 in the world at that weight, simply awesome. Interestingly though both Yves and Gomi have suffered freak losses (and gomi's first loss in 3 years) to people that wern't even really contenders in the last 3 months or so. Could it happen again?

The UFC really needs to make more of their lightweight division as in Yves Edwards (and BJ Penn if he loses the weight again) they have one of the best lightweights in the world.

I'd bet on Ortiz, Arlovski, Mir, Monsoon, Neer, Edwards, Fickett and Franca.

The other two guys I don't think i've even heard of before, not that it'll be shown anyway unless it's somekind of crazy slugfest war.

Tito should beat Ken, although he needs to have sorted his cardio out, because if he turns up in the same shape as he did for the Griffin fight, he could be in trouble.

I think the Sylvia v Arlovski fight could go either way, with both big punchers, with suspect chins.

The Edwards v Stevenson fight will go Edwards with the stand up and Stevenson on the floor, but I'll go with Yves with a high kick stoppage.

Frank Mir really needs a result as well, because he looked a shot figher last time.

Tito has some of the best cardio in mma (if not the best), in the Griffen fight he was badly injured before he even stepped into the octagon.

What was his injury before the fight then, I didn't realise it was that bad and thought he'd gassed.

If his cardio is back to normal, I can't see Ken winning and he'll end up retiring straight after.

He had a torn ACL. He did gas abit, yes, but that could be largely due to the training problems of being injured and all.

Uninjured Tito has probably the best cardio in the UFC, he even says himself that it's his biggest asset.

Personally I think it's his cardio and the fact that he's an absolute giant for a lhw.

Tito should probably be a heavyweight but cuts drastically before the fight, on fight night I wouldn't be surprised if he was around 230 pounds. Notice how he looks huge compared to Bisping.

I don't think Tito will ever be champ again, he's far to one dimensional, just shows how far we've come in the last 5 years alone.

I started watching UFC properly since UFC 59 so I will be looking forward to this one. From what I have seen with Sylvia/Arlovski it could go either way, I am also looking forward to Shamrock/Ortiz but I saw the first match online and can't see Shamrock winning. Also my mates tell me Chuck Lidell is pretty much "the man" in UFC, is he that good?

rofl @ dan fighting Mir. If Mir doesnt win, he should leave.

Some nice fights coming up, Tito seems to be in much better condition than Ken but I still question his heart, he used to love fighting now its just for the money. Shamrocks quite a decent guy tbh even though he didnt do as good as he could have in TUF3.

Anyone watch that weightings video? Andre dont look happy, looks like rocky when he went to fight drago :p They both have weak chins but Andre is much stronger, just his jab wobbles Sylvia as we saw but Andre just got careless, Sylvia is just tall and nothing else.
