UG on the cheap - PCI 2.0 woes

Looking at spending little cash on getting a decent rig for GTA4 and COD4 as I very rarely play these days.

Currently have a DFI Lanparty 939 UT RDX200 CF-DR lying about. Will the PCIx 2.0 cards work with this mobo?
I can get a Boxed 165 and 2gb of Patriot CAS2 DDR for £90, all new. I realise this is old tech however there is nostalgic value and should be able to get a nice overclock for no money.

According to sources online 2.0 is backwards compatable with 1.0 slots and vice versa, with a few exceptions. I was thinking of buying a 3870XT to go with this.

Should do as PCI-E 2.0 is backwards compatible, may work straight away, or you may need to update your BIOS.

According to this thread here over at Guru3D, they work fine, OP's running a 3870 X2 and single 3870 on that board.
