Has anyone got any reliable solutions for mini DP to hdmi?
These active cables are a nightmare.

Unfortunately I've got myself stuck in need of:
Mini dp > hdmi
4k
Sounds not required

My surface docks only have mini dp
My monitor only has hdmi spare

I have to use dp-dp from my desktop to monitor for freesync (I believe)

The cable I'm using now is ok, but screen goes black for a second every now and again.

I had the same issue with going through cable after cable for usb-c to hdmi.
I went through 4 adapters to get one that worked!
 
Been using a cheap generic Mini DP to HDMI adapter I got off Amazon 5 years ago and never had a problem. It only had to output to a 1080p TV though, never tried 4K.

I have a cable which works with my surface laptop

But doesn't seem to work with my surface book!
Very strange as surface book is definitely capable of it! Both are through a surface Dock too!

Just tried my old 1080p one.
It work , but limits the screen to 1080p

Ordered a 4k one to see if it will Work
 
I just had to get the same sort of cable to hook up a Surface 4 through a dock to 1440p monitor. The 4k one i purchased from the rainforest site did the job nicely Don’t know if that helps at all.
