Ugly Rumour of the day - George Graham to Newcastle

i dont care who it is as of yet.

i would rather no new manager was acquired til the seasons end. maybe after the world cup either.

it think we should give glen a good run out til then (obviously not the last two games) see where he can get us. he has done great so far.

although id love martin o niell in the job, i doubt it will happen for some reason

I dunno if Roeder is neccesarily the best choice for full-time manager just because he managed to get a highly under-performing team to beat a few mid to lower-table teams. Newcastle shouldn't be lower than mid-table with the team they have anyway, Souness just had a special talent for drawing out the worst possible performances from players it seems. Roeder wasn't much cop in his last few jobs, so I'd be cautious about giving him the full-time job myself.

spot on!

bringing in a new manager would mess things up atm, he'd have to little to aquaint himself with things before the game.

stick with Glen and after the season is done bring in the new manager so he has some real time to go over the time and hopefully improve the defense or bring in some new faces to the back four, and 1 maybe 2 new strikers as shearer is gone in May :(

He's 2nd fav on betfair now.
Cant see it myself.
The betting has shifted so much over the last few weeks.

If I had to put money on it Id go for O'Neill.
I wouldnt want Roeder in it full time.

George Graham has done well at every club he's been at, he has experience at the highest level and knows the players. He turned around Leeds and Tottenhams fortunes while he was there and i don't doubt he has the ability to do it at Newcastle.

Why people would rather have Roeder (who destroyed West Ham in their relagation season) because of the last few games i just don't know. Newcastle are on a high because Souness has left, it has nothing to do with Roeder i'm sure. He is a useless, weak manager (remember the Di Canio incident) with little tactical nouse and would be of no benefit to Newcastle.

What odds is George Graham at now?

About two weeks ago he was 40-1 on Betfair and 80-1 on Skybet when the rumours started.
