hey guys i recently bought the Xenon AMD Athlon II X2 250 3.00GHz Bundle off this site http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-028-OB

im basicly ripping out everything and starting again, was just wondering what the best hard drive, graphics card etc would be for my system.

i mainly use my pc for browsing etc and the only game i play is football manager not into pc gaming when i have an xbox :P

oh im also going to be running 2 screens.

any advice would be greatfully taken :P

Youd be fine with a low power gfx card such as this
Its not the best times to be buying HDDs, especially if trying to work on a budget, their prices have shot up 2-3x in last few months, they should come back down again in bout 6 months if you can use your existing one til then, just reformat it and start from scratch

cost isnt an issue i just thort it was a gd deal, my old hd isnt sata its really old tbh lol, i just want a setup that will work well together :)

i asked the mods and that graphics card is actually worse than the intel onboard (but can do some things the intel onboard cant).

if you want a reasonably good entirely new system with a decent sized hard drive, you cant do better than one of these:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Home Server GT Intel Core i3 2100 3.10GHz DDR3 - Server £329.99
1 x No Hard Drive Upgrade £0.00
1 x No Operating System £0.00
1 x System 12 Months Standard Warranty £0.00
Total : £342.59 (includes shipping : £10.50).

+ graphics card of choice (under £150 or the PSU will struggle)

comes with a 1TB HDD, which is worth ~£85 now, but the HDD price increase hasnt hit the prebuilds yet ss damned good value

or, if you want some more grunt

YOUR BASKET
1 x Home Server GTi Intel Core i5 2300 2.80GHz DDR3 - Server £439.99
1 x No Operating System £0.00
1 x System 12 Months Standard Warranty £0.00
1 x Kingston HyperX Blu 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (KHX1600C9AD3B1K2/4G) £23.99
1 x No Hard Drive Upgrade £0.00
Total : £476.58 (includes shipping : £10.50).
+ graphics card of choice (below the £150 mark or the PSU will struggle)

prebuild specs said:
- Hard Drive: x2 2TB SATA 6GB/s (additional storage options available)
so thats £250 worth of hard drives your getting for about £120 because HDD price increases havent hit the prebuilds yet

This all depends on whether he's had the bundle for less than 7 days :(.

Anyway I wouldn't buy a hard drive for now, I would just use your old one. The motherboard should still support IDE (I Hope).

next week im buying the graphics card, whats best for what i got?

Football manager and browsing? well a simple 6770 is low power or even less is ample, for example the 6570 etc.

What PSU have you got?

i dont know i just know its 230v

il probably be buying most things new as my pc is sooo old and well due an upgrade, i posted on this site ages ago with it cuz i overclocked it

Open the case up and have a gander at the casing of the PSU.

But the ATI mentioned above and the one by 95thrifles are very low power consumption, some of them are even just bus powered and dont need a cable from the PSU going into them.

well i have this so far

this is my board
Board: nForce-CK8S
Bus Clock: 202 megahertz
BIOS: Phoenix Technologies, LTD 6.00 PG 10/15/2004

and my processor is a 1.6ghz sempron overclocked to 2.00ghz

its really old and my harddrive is just an old 80gig and i have a secondery 40 gig which i riped out of a pc in a skip lol

The motherboard in that bundle doesnt have a IDE connector, so a new SATA DVD writer £17 and a SATA harddrive would be good, but harddrive prices are double now than they were a week or so ago.

This is a good drive - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-101-SA&groupid=701&catid=14&subcat=768

PSU - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-059-CS&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=1084

i was expecting silly money then, thats not 2 bad thx :)

also need a new graphics card, i might buy all 3 next week

Just googled that and it still comes up with different wattages, but it looks to be around the 300 - 400W margin.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-267-SP&tool=3

Power usage is slightly higher for the GDDR5 card—11 watts under idle and 60 watts at load,

Hows that Stulid?

Ah never saw that he replied with the PSU, does it have all the necessary connectors?

24pin + 4pin for the board, a few SATA power connectors for the drives and maybe a single PCI-E connector.

do i deffo need a new powe supply?

Hard to say, the golden rule is never skimp on the PSU quality, but the spec you have isnt very power hungry, but its always best to er on the side of caution and use a trusted modern psu with good safety/over voltage features.

Are you using two screens immediately, or is it something to purchase later on?

later on i could take a ic of all the drivvel on the side of my power supply if this would help lol?
