So built a new system the other day, found the stock a AMD cooler too dam loud so went to replace it. First problem i knew about the hard process of removing the cooler from vids, but still happen to me, the motherboard of the ultra has puny latch to hold cpu in place. So the cpu was yanked with cooler, and in doing so thermal paste landed on some pins.
So i tried to clean it, with soft toothbrush, it seem to go ok, so i put in cpu again motherboard blank screen but power of fans was going. So took apart again, tried to clean the same area again with magfify glass toothbrush and needle. While doing so the cpu dropped on motherboard and bent some pins!! on the outer edge 5 pins i think.

So tried to bend them back not perfect but it seem to fit the socket.
1 So either the still some micro paste on pins
2 Bent / missing pin i cant see or notice
3 motherbaord socket damage

Ryzen 3700x
Gigabyte aorus ultra x570 (Puny CPU lever!)

Can anyone link me a cpu repair shop in UK, maybe a drop in center om london !? i googled but all i get are upgrade shops. Not real microchip repairs

I was using the stock cooler it had the paste on it already. I knew that people have had problems with this cooler when trying to remove it, i already seen videos on how to do it. But still happened.

Dont think any pins fell off just bent. on my first bending of the pins back it fitted the slot okay no wobbles!
i didnt see any wet paste on pins at the time, it landed on top of the pins, so i brush under up movement with toothbrush, and then use other bursh to keep cleaning the area.

i havent disassemble yet after paste cleaning and bent pins.
build 1 after 1st paste cleaning blank post startup
build 2 paste clean with rebent pins blank post startup
3 removed to corner of room to collect dust :)
4 put in old 8 year old rig

on a sidenote maybe the MB is okay, coz the cooler rgb colour scheme was what left it as, i dont know much how the RGB settings are stored. Also the ram rgb came on too. but i dont know, can the rest of the power flow bypass the cpu socket. Also on old pcs you could get a screen with no cpu. Can you on 570x boards

im going to try the pins again with credit card and need to buy a mechanical pencil for the nib trick as well
