Since I have been working from home now for months I have got into going for walks of an evening to get out of the house, get some air and get some exercise. I stick an audio book or podcast on and just walk for a couple of hours. I live in SE London so am lucky to have Greenwich and Blackheath a couple of miles away which has some nice walking areas with paths but nice greenery. My mum lives in Maidstone right on the Medway, so when I visit her I generally take a walk one way or another along the river. I also pop to Southend occasionally as it is only about 50 mins by car and walk the seafront there as well.

I have a week off at the start of September and am going to Cambridge to see a friend for the first time in months (socially distant of course :)) for the first two days, but then thought I would get myself a hotel room somewhere for a night and spend a couple of days in a different place, doing some walking and seeing some sites.

So after some suggestions for seafront places that have nice walks - whether that is just along the seafront for a few miles or also some more greeny places a bit in land I dont mind.

Oh and I would prefer not to have to drive for half a day to get there, so not right up north or Cornwall would be preferred, but if you can sell it to me then maybe :)

Thanks

You can walk over 60 miles of continuous coastal path in Northumberland, with some of the best beaches in Europe. But sadly too far to travel :(

I've got the next two weeks off and that is where I will be.

I've lived on the south coast for years now but never walked as much as I have during the lockdown. Subscribed to audible and found a good series of books. Wanting to finish the books motivates me to go for a walk.

The Norfolk coast is nice.

I love the Devon and Cornwall coast too. Some of it is beautiful. I did part of the north coast last year and it was a fantastic day.

Margate would be an option for a day trip as about 90 minutes away, so early Sunday morning drive out and then day there would be good (similar to this Sunday in Hastings). I am edging towards East coast, so Southwold, Lowestoft type region for an overnight I think at the moment.

I dunno. I find Norfolk coast incredibly boring. Maybe it's just because I used to live there

Give me a wave.
