UK games on an Import PS3 console

Ok my UK copies of RFOM and Motorstorm arrived this morning, I have a Hong Kong machine.

Firstly put in Motorstorm, loaded up fine, went to the online option and it said an update was available, downloaded that and it asks you to reboot your PS3.

On rebooting went to the load the game and got an error message 80010009? This happened every time, deleted the update and the game worked fine again. So basically Motorstorm works fine but if you download the online update, it comes up with that error. If you don't download the update though you can't play online.

Anyone got any theories on this erro message after the online update?

Next RFOM, again the game loads up fine,no worries there. Go to the Multiplayer option however and it says 'Network Connection Failed, Disconnecting From Network'?

Now is this because of the system lock that is in place for multiplayer on this game? Is it because the EU servers aren't up and running till Friday? Will it work as of May when they release the patch?

Again anyone with any theories?

I'm also wondering if the firmware update due Friday (1.6) will have any affect on these issues.

S to clarify, UK games will work on your Import PS3, however be aware of the issues above.

Have you setup a new PSN User Account? You need to re-register so you can set your locale to UK instead of US/Jap. I hear this fixes it.

I guess we will have to wait for the update on Friday :\ Im in the same boat as you. I have a US Console and i am waiting for Motorstorm to be delivered. Fingers crossed the update will fix it or my PS3 will be on the bay quicker than you can say hay!

well i have a hk machine and i it does play uk games fine untill you want to take them online, :(

i realy hope that they sort it out with the new update..

The more I think about it, the more I'm not surprised it's not working. The servers probably aren't even online yet. Anyone checked to see what the error code means? Suspect it'll be something along the lines of 'Server not responding'.

EDIT: Just googled and it's throwing up lots of talk about bluetooth headsets......

Well Motorstorm has the aussie servers up, and resistance should have Aussie servers up too, and in the EU we used to always have the option to connect to the Australian servers.

My prediction - This is working by the weekend.

/me waits to be proven dramatically wrong. :p

Actually reading the OP again, have you ever played a game online on the machine? i.e. import ones?

Didn't Sony say that they were restricting the online features for import consoles?

Could be why the UK game isn't working? One theory.

If they don't work online after this Friday when we get the update and the UK servers go online, I'll just sell them and get the US versions.

Gavindo, whats COD3 like in general and online with the PS3 mate? I have it for the 360 and enjoy it but am curious about the PS3 version.

I'v played US RR7 & RFoM on HK machine.

@ Samba. COD3 IMO is crap, Resistance is far better.

I think Sony need to get their act together & get some real games out there. I have 10 games now & only Resistance & MotorStorm are worth mentioning (oh yeh, and maybe Tony Hawk)

I was told by a certain retail store today that Sony have told them to inform customers that cheaper import consoles won't play UK software, which totally confused me. I wasn't sure whther they were telling the truth or just trying to prevent me from buying a cheaper import.

As far as i know people are playing pal software on import machines but they are having online problems, which maybe down to the servers not been up.
