I remember in the last years of school 1998-1999 UK garage was very much in the spotlight, it was very mainstream and new tunes were springing up weekly and getting into the charts. Back then I disliked it. Yet now I can't get enough of it! I spend a lot of time and money tracking down vinyl and tracks of the genre.

There has always been talk of UKG making a massive come back year after year, there is still much love for UKG any club goer will know that when a UKG track comes on the place jumps.

Recently things are on the up it seems, more so than normal for UKG.

t2 - heart broken (must add I can't stand the tune ever since i heard it, but hey it promotes UKG :D)

H2o Feat Platnum - What we gonna do

delinquent - My destiny

All backed by music videos.. I think it would be great to get UKG back and alive. Theres been times when i've thought UKG was on its last legs, hardly no one producing regularly on a label apart from Todd and Wideboys, and a handful of others.

I'd love to see UKG spring back into life

Worst Genre of Music Ever. Only came about because trance had taken over and trance is very "white". Never saw many blacks in Gatecrasher etc, and the few you did see had hopeless feel for it rhythmically.

UK garage was the blacks trying to take dance music back.

This is not racism, this is from personal observation.

No im pretty sure Happy Hardcore was the worst genre of music, ever. Seriously, i liked drum and bass/uk garage/trance I have been to many of the big names venues like gatecrasher etc but my GOD happy hardcore is awful.

100% Agree. This is pretty much my opinion from my days of clubbing 1998 - 2002/3. Boy am I glad I don't have to drag myself out to grotty smelly loud places like that any more :p

Garage was always the Black/Asian music scene with Trance being dominated by the White folk.

oooo yea

at the end of last year loads of electro producers where using uk garage influences like , lots of wobbly basslines

I love you. I've heard that song SO much when I've been out and I've never been able to identify it. One of these days I'm going to bug you about your music collection :D

RIPGROOVE is "Speed Garage" not UK Garage. Speed Garage tracks such as Ripgroove and Spin Spin Sugar used to get played regularly in the main room of Gatecrasher and the place would go mental. You can dance easily to Speed Garage. Not so with UK Garage- that's all about bling and black leather and touching women up who are sticking their arses out.

i love UK garage. I love the filthy baselines, i think it's what started my interest in dance music as a whole.

It definitely seems to be creeping back in this year.

I also got the latest Pure Garage Rewind - Back to the old school (mixed by DJ EZ) CD the other day.. good stuff all the classics on there :)

UK Garage is a big umbrella that covers a lot of types and styles all of which are quite closely linked together. If it be 2 step, 4x4, speed garage, or bass line, I think there is always a certain feeling of it. Be it raw basslines or a snappy almost strange beat.

I can see how white pasty E'ed up ravers would like something like Ripgroove ;) :D.. before you say anything, I am white myself not that it matters at all. If I enjoy certain types of music then I do. a lot of white people enjoy UK garage and always have.. I'm not a person that likes MCs at all, but again there are a lot of white MCs that started way back in the day, true is with white producers and DJs. I wouldn't say at all UK garage evolved due to blacks trying to take back dance music, it is indeed your opinion that it was like that, though. I believe UK garage came from US garage/house being spun at a faster speed for us UK lot, for the jungle lovers and ravers to suite our likes for fast beats.

The way I always saw it was there were people that liked Trance on one end of the dance scene, and on the other were UK garage, meself, I like both. If I picture bling and black leather etc.. its grime which comes to mind, which imo isn't a part of the UKG umbrella i'm a fan of. But again its such a wide thing UKG, theres almost always something to satisfy everyone, unless you really can't stand it :D.

Uk Garage....or Chav-garage-pumping-out-of-my-nova music. Created by little white-boys trying to be gangsters and black. Not a fan of it really, but as with all genre's it does have some tunes that stand out.
