So the UK Kindle has been announced and available this month finally.

I will not be getting one as I have the Sony 600 with the touch screen.

I read all my books electronically now and will never look back. Anyone else into ebooks now? Looking like its gonna be the big xmas item.

If anyone thinks its just like reading on the latop think again. The screens have no refresh rate or backlight which means zero headaches and eye strain. Battery need charging once every couple of weeks as well :)

I took mine on holiday and read Anthony Beevors Stalingrad at 500 pages and it didnt drop one bar of battery. Just reading the lost symbol now.

Let the Ebook revolution begin.

Absolutely. I hate reading on my iphone and latop as within an hour my eyes ache slightly.

The ebook readers are not conventional screens. With no light and no refresh they are just like paper. Its those 2 things that cause problems with your eyes.

+1

Old skool tech for the win. They're cheaper, more portable, more accessible, more versatile and more tactile.

More portable?

I took Stalingrad, 3001, Trudi Canavans trilogy and trading in the zone on holiday. I would not have taken all of them in book form on holiday with me!!

I've had a Sony reader for a while now and find myself missing it whenever I go back to paper books. It's just so much more comfortable to hold.

I find myself reading a lot more since I got it as well. Probably because if there is a book you really feel in the mood to read you can have it within a few minutes instead of waiting a few days for it to come in the post.

Im the same. The reader can hold a 1000 books but I find only putting on 5 or so helps keep me focused.

Got a PRS-300 on sunday, love it so far :)
Very easy on the eyes, same as a real book.
There are thousands of e-bboks available to download free of charge as well.
Handy for me as both spare room's walls are already crammed with bookshelves, and starting to pile up in boxes now.

Is the 300 pocketable like they state?

The Sony 600 comes with a pen so you can annotate your books.

I can't see how you can get a headache with a proper e ink screen. I can read my ebook for hours but I get a headache after half hour on my laptop.

The biggest thing that the ebook manufacturers need to get across is the fact that they are so easy on the eye. Without a backlight and refresh rate then it is just the same as reading text on any other surface.

Also I just leave my reader switched on all the time with the page up I am reading on the screen. Its on 24/7 and I charge my reader every fortnight. Its even quicker than a book to pick up and read :)

Also the page turns are that fast on the 600 that it never bothers you at all. As fast as turning a page if not faster.

I use mine for 1-2 hours a day. It works for me for space and portability. I also like to read 3-4 books at a time alternating between them and the reader rocks for that.

Each to their own I suppose.
