I think he means that Intel is allowed to pretty much charge what they want since AMD is rubbish at the moment.

Still a good deal though. When my trusty 2500k starts showing its age I'll probably go for one of these but there's nothing I need it for that my 2500k can't achieve. I'm hardly a power user :p

You cant compare 2500K to 6700K

Its a great deal this one Gibbo. Nice work!!!

I'm not comparing it, I'm just saying the 2500k at 4.5Ghz is enough. So why bother upgrading?

It can be 1000000000000000000000000000x better on a bechmark and it still doesn't make a difference if the 2500k still holds itself.

Because its better!! Some want better. Infact a lot of our customers want better!!!

You encode, render, photoshop etc etc etc 6700K will totally smash 2500K. It also beats it in games. Your comparing a none HT CPU with HT CPU an i5 to i7.

Lets compare a SKylake i3 at 4.5ghz to your 2500K oh yes the Skylake will win in 95% of games too.

You are completely missing the point, I don't expect you to agree as a company representative, but I'm sure you would agree if we were down the pub that it is a waste of money to upgrade from a 2500k.

I don't dispute that they are faster, but if I did upgrade all I would get for my £500ish would be a bonner when the fps calculator was higher in games. Would it be smoother? No.

Why I visibly see any difference? No. That is my point.

I agree too many people are looking at pure numbers not does it do the job and do it well enough without problems.

it depends on what you are running. For gaming only it may be so but there are plenty of other things it will give you a real boost. It's better to go for more and not need it right away than to be left under powered and having to upgrade again later.

2500k is probably the best component I've ever bought, £170 and almost 5 years on I have never felt a need to upgrade. I'm getting tempted to build a new PC, but it's more for the enjoyment of it rather than needed more power.
