Hi guys,

A close mate of mine who rarely uses the internet, but when he does, uses dialup has reported a problem to me

The other day he brought his laptop round to get some updates off of my wireless connection and now is unable to use his own connection back home? It dials, verifies username/password, authenticates on the network etc – but then comes up with a Error 720 message? I’ve no idea what that means, I’m well out of touch with dialup now. Thankfully :D

He’s on UKOnline’s PayAsYouSurf? I’ve rang their recorded status message tonight and there don’t appear to be any problems with the network? Tomorrow I was going to the main customer services number, but before I did that I thought I’d ask the real experts ;)

Google, first result http://www.modemsite.com/56k/duns720.asp ;).

With Windows XP, you cannot re-install TCP/IP, but you can reset it with the following DOS command:

Click Start, then Run..., and put the following in the Open text box (or enter the following from a DOS command prompt which you can get by Start->Run-> cmd)
netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt

Hopefully. I remember I had some similar problem ages ago (It wasn't dialup, but I did have to reset the TCP stack) and it cleared it up :)
