Any ideas if uk2.net are any better than what they used to be ?

I'm thinking of hiring a server and unlimited 100mbs off them at the ridiculously cheap price of around £700ex per month
 
They are better but I still wouldn't be keen on using them for mission critical stuff (my personal opinion etc..).

Any time of 100mb unlimited server is going to cost you a lot of money. I'd take a look at gyron.net and 2host.co.uk if you need something that works.
 
uk2.net have had a large re-organisation of the management however still a bit iffy, support is truly appaling from them from what ive heard, try looking through forum2.co.uk theres plenty of reviews of them and other comapanies
 
HMmmmmm my only concern is how long it would take them to replace a failed disk in a RAID1 array and whether the machine would still be up in that event.

I'm dreading the thought of even using their support - wth I can't even get through to sales to actually make the purchase !
 
From experience UK2's customer support hasn't been too great for me. Its a lengthy process which could(and should!) be made easier and clearer. As mentioned there are other hosts around which for similar (or even less) money offer a greater service.

So it's definitely worth looking round.
 
I've inherited a basic hosting package on UK2.net, & I wouldn't touch them with a several hundred foot long bargepole. (Counting down until renewal when the lot moves away from them!)
The management has got a little better yes, but they've got so far to go its unreal. I can still think of no other company where quite significant periods of downtime (There was one of almost a week recently) are seen as normal, and tech support simply doesn't answer you.

Pay peanuts, get monkeys.
