I had a email today saying i had used 45.43 gig and had gone over my 45gig allowance, now i have emailed them over this but had no responce does anyone know what is likely to happen ie do i get charged another whole month etc, do i get charged straight away or at my next billing period, any input will be appreciated.

Im on ADSL24 (basically the exact same as UKFSN since they are both Entanet) and i went over my 30GB allowance by 1GB. You get charged the extra amount that it costs to upgrade to the next package, so for me it was £10 (since it is £19.99 for my package and the next one costs £29.99) and then a £5 admin fee. So i got charged £15 total which came on my next bill.

Just looking at UKFSN, which package does 45Gb a month? All i see is 3, 30, 60Gb.

The next package up from mine is this, i am on the max 45 which works out at £30 with vat, so i guess it will be another £10 like you and £5 admin charge.

Office MAX 45 45 GB 300 GB £25.00
Office MAX 90 90 GB 330 GB £35.00

Does this mean i have to restrict my usage now or can i use what i would effectivly have another 45 gig ?

What makes me laugh i sent 2-3 emails a few months ago requesting a regrade to my account and i got no reply, i even phoned up enta to enquire and they said they will email him my request but i still got nothing back, bunch of cowboys imo.

You'll get charged based on your usage at the end of the billing period so unless you use more than another 45GB (peak) between now and then you'll get charged the £10 +vat +£5.

I was on UKFSN last year, so I can confirm it's as you say.

From what I remember, it was ordinarily £29.38 with VAT, and once you go over it ended up at £47.01 - which looks about right from your figures.

And yes, you now have 90Gb to play with - and it'll be billed at the same time it usually is.

You'd soon rack up more than £17 on £1/gb. £17 for another 45Gb is a pretty good deal (just have to make sure you make the most of it!)

Can you confirm thats 100% what will happen i been charged for the next one up which is another 45 gig, i don't want to download this and find out i get charged more than i thought.

You'll be charged £47.01 regardless of whether you use another 100Mb or another 45Gb - just don't go over 90, or you'll really be screwed.

Bear in mind that Enta charges for transfer not downloads. i.e. the 90Gb is both upload and download traffic.

no you don't. the overcharge / allowance is for the month just gone so you can't use the allowance you've just had to pay all that extra for. :(

next month you're back on your normal allowance/tariff. the only way you can make use of the extra bandwidth is if you know you're going to go over by downloading shed loads in the last week/few days before the end of the billing month. for someone who's just gone over a small amount, it sucks......

but to be fair, enta provide the tools to monitor your usage. apparently ukfsn also email you when you hit 90% of your allowance. and the charges are all outlined clearly before you sign up as well. :)

I am due to be billed on the 18th of November for my next month so like 9 days away and i got the 90% email of them but when i recieved the email i had used 44.39 gig which it said in the email, if they had sent it bang on 90% i would have been able to lay off downloading in peaks so abit to late really for me.

I thought they email you as soon as you go over - that's likely to happen in, say, week 3 of that month. So you then have another week left to actually make use of it.

Unless I've forgotten when they send the emails out. Would be best to double check!

I have complained but nothing can be done they said, i even argued that saying if you had sent a email when i had hit 90% i would have slowed my usage instead of recieving a email saying that and see it says 44.93 gig knowing it was going to go over no matter what i did.

I don't mind so much paying the extra aslong as i get the additional 45gig and i will make sure i use it, this will be the last month for me anyway as we moving in a few weeks and i can get VM cable there, so will be going on 20meg then.

oops. that's me not reading the thread properly. i thought the OP had been billed for the next package up already. :o

but you still have to use that allowance before the end of the current billing period. get on it. :D

This was my main concern tbh the card i use for interenet i usually just pay that amount onto it, i was concerned i would get charged now for what i had used over so payed some extra in today to cover, i am not overly botherd aslong as i get charged the extra on the 18th Novermber.

Just had this email of them this min.

The amount you will be charged will be your the price for the allowance
level you have used this month plus a £5+VAT admin fee. In your case
that means your next bill will be for £40+VAT.

Does anyone know much about cancelling an account with these, don't want to migrate as we going on vm 20meg when we move ? as i said above want to cancel it after this next billing periord 18th November.
