the bt checker says
Our test also indicates that your line should be able to support a potential ADSL Max broadband line rate of 5.5Mbps up to 8Mbps.

i have just started my ukfsn service yesterday, i have done a few speed tests on adslguide and im only getting download speeds of 2mbps, this is not any faster than i had before with my 2mb service from freedom2surf.

is there some setting i need to alter to increase my speed with my modem? i have a dlink DSL-G604T wireless adsl router

Go to: http://speedtester.bt.com/

And do the speedtest there and copy the results from it like this.

IP profile for your line is - 7150 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 8128 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 6435 kbps

It will most likely be a stuck profile. Give it a couple of days and if your profile is still at 2000Kb/s with a much higher sync then call UKFSN or Enta. They will give BT a call to sort it out.

If you just started yesterday 2mb is right, thats what you start off on, now you have 10 days training where the speeds will vary so they can determine what your line supports, but you could check to see what your syncing at as said above by tolien, and also run the BT speedtest posted above just to make sure they put you on the right service as it has been known for BT to **** it up and put ppl on a normal 2mb fixed service. :D

thanks for all the help guys, i will give it a week to settle and see if there is an improvement on speed, here is what the speed tester says

IP profile for your line is - 4500 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 5888 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 4166 kbps

also i dont know how to check what speed the modem is connected at, as its a wireless router my network connection is telling me 54mbps but thats for my wireless network

If it's still slow, there's something wrong with either Enta or the source you're downloading from:

Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 4166 kbps

so you should be getting ~4Mbps...

also i dont know how to check what speed the modem is connected at, as its a wireless router

It'll say in the web interface.

Looks like your on 4.5mb there judging by the IP profile so your on the right service, and the 4166 achieved is just over 4mb (i think). :)

Bugger beaten. :p

There is nothing wrong with your connection.

Your modem is connection at 5888 kbps. The BT speedtester told you this, and you posted it. :p :D

Have you got a filter on every phone line in your house? Including the sky box?

Edit: If you go to, start, run, cmd, type in ipconfig. Copy the default gateway into your web browser you will be able to see your sync and more importantly the noise margin and attenuation.

web interface says
DSL Speed 448 Kbps Upstream, 5888 Kbps Downstream

the reason i am so confused was the adslguide speed checker was giving me 1.9mbps and 2mbps, so i assumed my connection was still the same, however the speedchecker on the bt site seems to tell me different. weird

i have got a filter on just the 1 phone line, i dont have my sky connected to my phone line.

if i run ipconfig a command box appears for a split second and then dissapears.

You need to type cmd into run. Then in CMD type in ipconfig.

It doesn't matter you seem to have found the web interface now anyway. :)
