From Asrock first, here.

And from Epox, here.

After the pretty good experiences many of us have had with the ULi based Asrock what do you lot think of the new SLi capable chipset?

It seems to compare to NF4 very well. :)

The Asrock still features the AM2 daughterboard socket too.

I think I am going to get an EPoX EP-9U1697 GLI to tide me over until my current board is RMA'd. I can then have a toss up to determine the best performer. Might be interesting!

this is old news & afaik nVidia are doing their darnedest with latest drivers to disable SLI on these.

To be honest, I am not really interested in SLI, as I have an ATI card and run at a fairly limited resolution. However, the mobo looks great value for money and is heavily overclockable. It's also a bit different, which makes it more interesting than your typical NF4 board.

incorect since nvidia purchased ULI they are enabeling SLi on these chipsets
not true, they have said over & over that SLi is only for nVidia chipsets (at least until 1 day no doubt both ATi & nVidia will enable Crossfire/SLi on all platforms).
I think that you will find that SLI doesn't work on 1697 with latest nVidia Forceware drivers ...

I am sure some people like omega drivers etc will modified the nvidia driver to run sli on these mobos

ummm who gets sli on budget motherboards? spending over £300 and then skimping on a vital component is just silly.
Those who are on a budget and have an easy upgrade path in the future? Personally, I don't agree with SLI but that's just me. Anyway, I would hardly call getting a great value for money mobo "skimping". Read this review. You might be suprised!

actually, they said that before they bought ULi out. Word is they are enabling it again.

Spending more on the motherboard would make you feel better even if the budget board worked fine (mine does with 2 2nd hand 6800GT's)?

& they re-affirmed & disabled it after buying ULi.
I still expect that 1 day they will all be interchangeable when the market forces it - it's all drivers & politics
