Hi, i crashed my van not so long ago, three cars in-front of me slammed on the brakes and i couldn't stop my van.

Anyway, i got another letter off ULR (uninsured loss recovery) additions and they've now said they're writing to me, or write further to the above with my name on it and they can now confirm having received "advices" (their spelling) from their solicitors that feel there are "no prospects of success against the third party"

They say in view of this they're unable to proceed and have to now file papers.

I honestly have no clue what they're talking about, could someone enlighten me please?

Are they saying they want more money off me? They gave me a hire van for 7 days and said its free, are they now saying they want me to pay for it?

As if the crash wasn't stressful enough, they keep sending me letters, i thought the whole deal with insurance was for them to sort everything, you pay the excess and look for a new insurer when yours is up as they're almost certainly going to rip you off..

I crashed on the 6th this month, do i also have to wait till the claim against me is all clear before i can look at new insurance which is up on the 7th next month?

Cheers for any help.

Sounds like you are the named Defendant, which you are (sometimes they sue the insurance company direct, which is wrong technically even though either way the money comes from the same place), and are perusing losses against you. What you need to do is contact your insurers, who will put you in touch with the claims handler or their panel solicitors who is dealing on your case. They would have a file opened already, you should have a reference. Get to speak to the file handler, either at the insurance company or the law firm dealing with this and do as they say. First though, keep all the papers received (forward them on as instructed), and don't write back to them yourself as you should be of now represented so let the lawyers do their thing.

so are you saying her insurance or the woman i crashed into is trying to get money out of me directly or out of my insurance?

If you didn't have insurance she would try and get money out of you. You are the defendant so the papers are normally issued against you, unless the claimant has been informed by the insurance company or the panel solicitors that they should be served on them.

Just call your insurance company and forward them any letters you get.

This letter sounds a bit fishy to me. I'd ring your own insurers and make them deal with it all.

Just rang the insurance, they had no clue, said to ring claims, i then rang ULR and basically after i crashed i said my neck hurt, whilst i was still in shock from the crash but never said it because i wanted money out of my insurance..

I just said it in passing conversation, never once said i wanted to claim.

Anyway they passed on this info to solicitors anyway and without them even ringing me to see if i'm OK, apparently i'm fine and i don't have a whip lash claim. (i am fine but that's not the point)

Its kind of annoying why they make the letter make no sense, even the insurance i'm with couldn't understand what it was about.
