Hi all long time reader first time poster.

Purchased the Ultima Dreadnought and received it today. Got a wee problem with a rogue fan.

It's a yellow Viper fan that is plugged into the cpu fan slot on the motherboard. I figured it was the side fan and slotted it in there. Only problem with that is the case can't shut with it there.

There were two wee thin metal brackets rattling about the case also.

Anybody know where this fan belongs or do OC put it in as part of the package and expect me to remove it when I find out there is no space for it?

Any help would be great.

Hey, by sounds of it, it should be attached to the cpu heatsink, probably using the 2 metal brackets that have fell off during transit, if the heatsink already has a fan then attach it to other side for a push/pull configuration

Yeah there is quite a few 120mm. 3 on the case (i think there 120mm) and I just attached one to the heatsink.

So attach the fan and push the power button.... moment of truth.

PC fires up.... stops and turns off... powers up again and then does nothing. Tried two different monitors and nothing coming up on the screen. All the fans seem to be working and occasionally the machine makes 'thinking' noises.

Any ideas anyone ?

The only idea that is worth having is contacting OCUK and letting them know about your problem directly - if you start fiddling now you could void your warranty mate and really you do not want to do that. So grit yer teeth and bear it for the night but first thing in the morning you get hold of the lads. They are pretty good about stuff like this and will be more than pleased to help you out.

Yeah thats the plan.

I don't know enough about PC's to start touching bits and pieces. Bit disappointing but hey-ho... ill see what they have to say on the support line tomorrow.

Yeah best thing to do is give them a ring in the morning. In the meantime just make sure everything is connected up properly and seated for example the all the memory modules and the power supply to the motherboard. Have a flick through motherboard manual just to get familiar with your way around.
