Ultima mobile low fps on battery

Just got the new ultima mobile and it plays all the games excellantly on mains power, but as soon as I pull the power lead out of the notebook, and run it on battery power the laptops performance instantly becomes about a third of what it was. I assumed this was to do with the vista power settings, however I've set my vista power plan to high performance and changed cpu power on battery to 100% and turned pci-e link off but there is no improvement. Does anyone else have any insight into why its so slow on the battery?

Have you checked the BIOS for power saving options? Perhaps it has some power saving features below the OS level.

Does Nvidia have some Power settings built in?
My ATI card has that 'Powerplay' feature, so I'm guessing yours would too.

I have checked the bios but I cannot see any power saving options, I can' see anythign in the nvidia control panel either. I think the problem may be cpu related as the laptop is also significantly slower in windows.

If any other Ultima Owners would like to comment on their experiences of gaming on battery power the help would be much appreciated.

Windows power profile management?

It may be defaulting to 'maximise battery' when unplugged.
