Ultima OC 8800 systems

Hi, Can someone explain why if upgrading to 4GB Memory on these Ultima OC 8800 systems the overclock is reduced. What would become unstable? Couldn’t you change the memory divider? Or is this just a silly question? Or would 2x 2GB be better?

“Note - If you select the 4GB Memory Upgrade option then the CPU overclock is reduced to 3.1GHz - 3.2GHz region to maintain stability with all four memory banks filled”

4 GB of memory put a lot more strain on the Northbridge thus reducing the ability to overclock.
