This annoyed me.

The review is based on a verison that is SLI, The £1484 version your selling is NOT SLI.

So tbh the review is reviewing a rig that costs well over £2000

EDIT:
2214.95 inc VAT to be exact!

poor show there ocuk

This £1500 rig is missing:

680GTX
120GB SSD
(reduced from 2tb to 1.12tb
No OS

Not the same system at all.

So infact is not the system reviewed and you shouldn't advertise it as a silver rated system.

Not at all, the second graphics card is an option available to be selected.

Surely this is blindingly obvious!

Also the reduced from 2TB to 1TB? You are reading that wrong. We have actually increased it to 2TB after the review, as it was seen as a weak point.

Ok i see, But you removed the SSD.

Yes It is plain to see the extras are optional, But you are advertising it as the rig that was given the silver rating, when its NOT.

the system was given a silver rating. we have improved it. either you cannot see this or you are just being pedantic for the sake of it.

the review states that the product as reviewed includes updates

perhaps the review site should have a 'price as reviewed' section like they do on car reviews.
if you got into a car at a dealership and moaned that it didnt have nav as standard because that is the spec you saw reviewed on top gear, they would tell you the exact same thing.

if a VW golf wins an award, it wins an award despite the specification level. it is still the same car.

this system in the op is the standard specification that we have listed on the website.

when we link an item to the forums, it automatically sets the drop down options to the default setting, this is because our system is not able to choose options.

the point of the op is that core fundamentals have been changed to improve the base spec
Power supply is now modular and from a superior manufacturer - this is fixed spec.
memory has been upgraded - this is fixed spec
storage drive has been upgraded - this is fixed spec

i am really struggling to understand how you cannot see these things?

the system reviewed is the same base system as we have in the op.

It is though.

If a car wins and award it does not become a different car because someone deselects an option such as leather seats or sat nav does it? It would still be the same car.

No its not the same.

It has a better spec than the one you have on that listed page.

You should at least call it the "whatever pc UPGRADED"

its like you're not getting the point on purpose for the sake of argument?

i will take you through it step by step.

Product on Review: OcUK Ultima 9550i Tyrannosaur

this points out with a link to the product page, what system is being reviewed

Street price: £2080 inc. VAT (At time of review)

this could not highlight any more clearly that the system in not the base specification model. by clicking on the link above this very quote, you are whisked away straight to the product page of the system where the title clearly shows the name of the system and the base price based on default configuration options.

Storage 1x Samsung 840 120GB & 1TB Storage HDD
Power Supply PCPower&Cooling 950w
Case NZXT Phantom Enthusiast Full Tower Case
Operating System Windows 8 Professional 64 bit

here is a list of components within the system at time of review. you can clearly see that there is a 680 SLI setup in there, clicking on the link to the product in the review, this 680 SLI setup is an optional upgrade.

a £1400 system with 680 SLI is very improbable so lets accept this and move on.

In terms of the storage options that come with Ultima 9550i Tyrannosaur MKIII, there is just a single 1TB drive for the bulk of storage which we think could be improved upon for the given cost of the system

here the reviewer points out that he would have liked to have seen a higher capacity storage drive within the system. we take criticism well and have acted on this by doubling this for no additional cost.
what a great bunch of guys :)

i especially noticed the part where the reviewer mentions that he is in fact reviewing the Ultima 9550i Tyrannosaur MKIII. That part of the review made it quite clear to me what system he was reviewing.

Vortez said:
It will handle the most demanding tasks without any issues and thanks to a significant boost, the overclocked Core i7-3770K provides a key advantage over it just sitting at stock settings.

this is the part that i like the best. the reviewer has discounted any performance increases that the optional extra GPU and SSD would give the system and has instead chosen to focus entirely on the responsiveness of the system and its ability to carry out tasks. what i found most interesting is that the reviewer hardly mentions any of the benefits of the additional GPU at all.

so you see, the system that is on review is the same basic specification as the one in the OP. whilst you are entirely correct in saying that the system in its state of review with a few boxes ticked makes it a few hundred pounds more expensive than a stock version, it is still the base system.

the motherboard, case, hdd, psu, cooler, cpu, overclock, memory and odd are all the same. the system was sent for review as it is because £2000 is a common price point at OCUK. but we realise that not everybody needs or wants to spend this much which is why we give you the option to make an awesome £1500 gaming system into a £2000 gaming system should you require.

what you are implying is that because we offer a customer the choice to specify a system to suit their requirements and budget that it is in fact an entirely different system because of the addition of two extra components.

The extras are there for people to take them if they want, either way it's a sick spec worthy of the award so why kick up a fuss?

Very nicely put together system, though if i was purchasing this. Id prefer a case like the corsair carbide 500r.
