Hi i have a problem i have a infected dell dimension 8400 pc that has a broken internal dvd drive and will not read/write.Ive tried using a external usb dvd drive to boot a copy of UBCD but it fails to detect it in bios.Is it possible to boot UBCD via usb if yes would it work with that dell? Are there any other solutions possible that don't involve getting another dvd drive ?

thanks in advance

Yeah, a bootable USB DVD Drive (or even a USB stick) would work.

Just plug in the drive, when booting press F12 to select a boot device.

I had a Dell Dimension DVD drive fail also, and had to use a secondary one (which was thankfully already present).

So, you've followed the guide. Put the USB Stick in the machine, on boot at the BIOS POST screen, you've hit F12 and selected the USB Stick?
