Anyone play this? It's slipped under the radar.

I bought Ultimate General Gettysburg (pre cursor to this) for £4 when it was on sale and got to grips with the mechanics and the tactics. I took a bit of a punt upgrading to this version; it's £22. It's pretty damn good to be honest. I believe Darth from the old Darthmod now works officially on the AI. The warfare does remind me very much of the Total War games, playing out in realtime. But I like the historical accuracy. It really brings home just how bloody and awful this war must have been. Modern weapons and very old fashioned tactics, standing in line, waiting for a musket ball, or shrapnel to rip you apart. It must have been horrific. It's not perfect by any stretch, but it's very addictive. The campaign is excellent.

I was thinking that - a Waterloo title would be most welcome. Just digressing, I managed to trace a family member who fought in all the Peninsular battles up to Waterloo. He survived all the battles as an infantry man, and made it home. How impressive eh?

Battles vary in time, but to be honest, as long as you achieve the goals they can last as long as you like.

I'm getting to grips with the scaling, as I'm finding it a little complicated. I'm outnumbered in most battles which is to be expected as you are up against the AI, but career points are essential in this respect. I'm finding Politics and organisation the most important as a confederate player. But as you increase your corps size the AI increases too. Isn't it just advisable to keep all battles as small as possible? Why would you need to use the max if it scales.

I'm also not sure what is the best weapon to use.
