Office 2007 will open any 200 file, so no problem there. Normally it is best to remove Office as it won't automatically do it for you. At least my non-student version doesn't.
i guess just be aware that by default office 2007 saves files as a slightly different file type than before. Now you've got .docx .pptx etc which older versions of office have an issue opening without the compatibility pack (not sure there is one for 2000, but there def is for 2003). you can still also save as the older formats .doc .xls .ppt too.
This isn't much of an issue now days but still worth bearing in mind. I do occasionally come across people still running 2000 or 2003 without any compatibility pack so I always try and make sure i save my office docs in the older formats
Bit confused now. I'll remove Office 2000 and install Office 2007. Can I then open all my Office 2000 files ( and when I resave them save them as 2007 files)? If I want to work on the new files on another pc using Office 2000 I would need the compatability pack. Is that right or do I get the option to save 2007 files as 2000 files.
