Ultimate Sleeper

The thing is, whenever I see something like I EXPECT it to have a V8 in it or something similar because otherwise there is just no reason to own one.

This is my favourite sleeper and I will one day own one just like it

And the reason I'd want to own it?

Stage 3 YB Cosworth lump, good for 350-380bhp. The car even has those christian fish and RSPCA stickers on the back to really disarm it :D :D :D

A minor on crossplies is more fun at 15mph in the wet than most moderns are at any speed in the dry ;)

That was before he got to work on the engine :)
There are some pics of it later, and he's spruced it up

I love that car. I'd really love to own one and annoy the VXR/GTI owners :D

Penski, I bet! :D

Have you got the link to the thread on passionford? I'd be interested to see more of it, as a past owner of three Cortinas :p Not Cossie-powered ones though sadly :D

How can you know it's dangerous, curious comment?
ever driven a Cortina?
front suspension is AWFUL.
trust me, it redefines the word vague.
Stonedofmoo said:
Passed it's MOT and it's long wheelbase so at least the backend would be vaguely predictable.
you and i Both know the MOT doesn't mean squat.
he MUST have multi-linked the rear suspension because the standard rear suspension is too weak for even a 1.6 Pinto.
those things used to pop void bushes like they were going out of fashion.

Whether it is dangerous depends on what else he's done to the car as said above. If he's just put a cossie engine and gearbox in and nothing else then it would indeed be not very clever :)

well it's relatively easy to fix the rear end problems but the front would require MAJOR surgery.
if he's ditched the Cortina subframe and grafted on something else then i'd happily salute the guy in my boxer shorts.
if not then no matter what you do to it, it really is that bad.
uprated shockers+springs+anti roll bars and anti dive kits won't cure what's basically a very bad design.

No mate, I can't even remember the last time I saw one on the road! :)

Let's hope he's upgraded the rest then. I'd imagine there are things you can do, Ford uprated parts seem easy to come by.

He's kept everything looking run down on purpose fella, it's meant to be a sleeper :)

Edit: Atmospheric DV!! Shocking, i'd of got a recirc one on there

they are mate but the problem with the Cortina is the basic design of the front suspension.i can see how it could be uprated to deal with the power on a basic level, but it will NEVER handle.

i'm sure it says on the passionford page he used a bypass and not atmospheric valve.
