Also I dont believe Raptors work that much better in Raid configs - and therefore having 1 is a great idea but you may well not need the 2nd

I'm not really to bothered about the performance advantage, just the additional space. I have a nasty habit of filling HDrives

That's going to be one incredible rig!

I would hope so for the price. I am tempted to switch the mobo for one that supports 3 graphics cards so i can put a x1600 or something in to act as a physics card

Not going to get a physics card was looking at using an x1600 as they perform better,was only an idea

depends how much money you have to spend, you should be able to get £160-£180 for the gt's (depending on wht they are) so to go crossfire with x1900's will cost somewhere in the region of £300

Then why get a raptor at all?

Or just get one and the 4 "standard" sata drives

I want the speed advantage over other drives, so thats why the raptors. Originally i didn't see the 150gb raptor so its cheaper to get one 150 than 2 74's, so i'll probably do that

Just thought the title says "Ultimate System" - But I know the E6600 is good and all but its not ultimate. X6800 is much better in an "Ultimate system"{snip}

I haven't got the extra £500 for the x6800 so an overclock on the 6600 is the best bet for the price

Get the GSkill HZ 6400, its the same stuff but half the price.

I read that somewhere a while ago, just can't believe a company could sell 2 products that perform so similarly for such a difference in price.
Will get the 6400 though, and probably spend the money saved on the conroe 6700

I have a syncmaster 913 at the moment but would be nice to get a 30" widescreen and run dual display.

Well they can change the ic's whenever they like, it's just the recent batches that use the same as the pc2-8000, it may change in future. Also, theres obviously no guarantee they'll make it to 8000 speeds but they almost certainly will.

I suppose so, makes sense to use the same ic's reduces the number that they need to stock
