Hi all

I just opened up my Ultitube Pro + pump and was surprised to find that the mounting bracket screws didn't align...

Way off.

I've pinned this down to the pump not screwing flush to the reservoir:

^ you can clearly see the fastener screw.

Removing the pump and screwing it looks like this:

^^^^ Much better.

I don't think the pump is able to sit in the reservoir properly…

Uh... am I missing something here, or is this faulty? =/

p.s. I first noticed that screwing in was impossible, without the whole pump 'leaning backwards' due to misalignment, before I touched the pump - so it was like this when it arrived. I have tried re-seating the O-ring and no luck.

Thanks all.

Did you buy the pump as part of the kit or seperately?

Also, you sure its not crossthreaded? The lid on my ultitube is an absolute nightmare to get on!

All together in one kit.

Hmm, by cross threaded you just mean… keep having a go until it hopefully works and the threads are aligned? I did have a fair few attempts but will try again.

Which side do you have the gasket? The stack order should be:

ULTITUBE

Gasket

D5 Pump

Retention ring

Don't force if its cross threaded. Just make sure to start the retention ring onto the thread carefully. Acetal will easily strip.

A trick is to run the retention ring backwards slowly first before tightening it at all. You should feel the ring 'drop' into the start of the housing thread then you can start tightening.

The official manual states:

1. Place the gasket into the ULTITUBE base part.
2. Place the ULTITUBE base part on top of the D5 pump motor.
3. D5 NEXT only: Remove the controller unit from the pump
4. Slide the mounting ring onto the rear side of the pump motor and fasten the
ring by screwing it onto the ULTITUBE base part.
5. D5 NEXT only: Re-attach the controller unit to the pump.

Regarding point 2, do you think you have seated the pump securely enough in the tube base?

As a word of warning also...the manaul regarding brackets is very unhelpful. It only states there is a side and bottom mount option with no imagery.

Dont do what I did which was use the bottom mount to affix to the side of the case. It worked but then completely blocked removal of the D5 next controller from the pump! Had to drain loop and swap it around.
