I'm looking for an ultra sensitive wifi PCI-E card for my desktop machine. I already have a USB wifi dongle but that isn't strong enough to pick up the signal. My smartphone on the other hand (Nexus 4) picks it up no problem even when the phone is right next to my computer. I am assuming that the USB wifi dongle is therefore not strong enough to pick up weak signals.

Does anyone have any suggestions for the best wifi PCI-E card for my uses? Wifi a/b/n standard compliance would be great.

Thanks.

What adapter are you using at the moment?

Have you tried plugging it in via an extension cable? Getting the adapter up into clear air can do wonders for signal strength.

Which wireless standards does your router support? If you don't know then what model is the router?

I use powerline adapters as the wifi doesnt reach my room. Can't fault them.

I have been tempted by those TP-Link ones with wifi built in, would be good for my Vita and 3DS.
