    Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. ULTRA V GTX

I generally play at 1920x1080 with a decent frame rate (20-40fps- average 35ish), adding 2x AA knocks it down a bit but for the most part is playable @ high settings.

I'm 11th in the crysis table.

A well clocked SLI GTX/C2D will get about 10fps more than me.

it's worth nothing that a well clocked single gtx will get about 1fps lower than you, using a slower cpu:)

crysis isnt the game to show the benefits of sli, or the lack of power in 'lesser' cards either, since the top end cards are all performing all so similarly. even if your substituting the cpu for a faster, quad core variant.

At higher res there prob more of a difference tbh. My 3dm06 score is a bit crap as well compared to 8800GTS 512! Only about 14,200 default.
 
Wait an see if the 3870X2 will be good, it should be faster than an Ultra for about the same price or cheaper, expecting the 3870X2 to be around £250.
 
Actually, no, i wouldnt recommend the Ultra. Its too much money for not a lot to show. Ive got a 8800GTS 640Mb and im more than happy with it.What i actually meant was thats the reason people buy it. Becasue its the ULTRA.

Is rounddodger nearing a suspension . . . . .

Oh come off it, I've seen every man and his dog on this forum refer to that well known auction site I've mentioned. Fair play but when people are saying there's 140 quid difference and it simply isn't true, I want the guy to have the facts before he blows his hard-earned cash tbfh.

For the record I wouldn't mention a direct competitor. I wasn't aware auction sites where off-limits, but I do now. (Sorry) :)

I'd go for the GTX anyway. Here's my Gainward at pretty much ultra speeds:

get a 512mb G92 8800GTS and overclock the nuts off it, should match GTX in more or less any game as long as the resolution isn't really high
 
Thanks for all the comments and advice guys cheers rounddodger for getting yourself a wrist slap:) So Its definitely going to ba a GTX for me :)
 
Nope, not me AFAIR. (may have spoke before but never got any further)

Ive had same OC since near day 1 and its a crap Mobo and glad to be rid of it soon :p
