As per title after recent problems with acer x34 monitor, i am looking to buy a ultra wide monitor to go with my new system (to be) with the 1080 card.

Really cant afford 1k on the new acer replacement model

What is the next best thing but a tad cheaper. Samsung do any good ultra wide?

So you are aware, almost all Ultra-wide panels (21:9) come out of the LG factory

Its all then about what spec, inputs, extra bits etc etc that you want to have

More than happy to advise but obviously would be LG orientated :)

Cheers Dan, Inputs, well all i want is a 1080 Pascal card plugged in to play my game so all the whistles and features im not too bothered about just purely Desktop > Monitor to play a game.

The Acer looks nice but i cant go up to 1k. So was looking around 600-700 or obviously cheaper if doable. 34" would be nice, but can be smaller.

You're aware they all basically use the same panel yes? You don't state what your problem was but if it was "scanlines" then thats due to the Gsync module, if its IPS glow or BLB then you're unlikely to find much difference between the various models either.

I currently dont own a monitor / setup so no problems for me here, I just cant afford 1k on a monitor so was looking at cheaper alternatives. Perhaps my opening statement was not worded correctly so hands up, but doing my research the x34 has been recalled and a new x34a is now out. There was a deal for the x34 cheaper but now gone.

Dan thanks for this i will take alook, is there a good "curved" monitor as an alternative i was kind of looking at the curved screens if being honest.

you won't get an ultrawide 1440p gsync monitor without paying x34 prices.

you would need to get a 1080p monitor to get the cost down to 6-700

Yeah do save up abit more and grab one with gsync. I moved from the LG34UC97-S a gorgeous panel in itself I was using for a year. Jumped to the Asus PG348Q which is essentially the Acer x34 in a different wrapper but for gaming G-Sync and 100hz are well worth the premium. With a 1080 it should feel pretty epic of a combination.

The smoothness is amazing.
