I am thinking about getting a samsung LC43J890 ultra wide monitor most for driving games , They have two size 43 or 49 i think there identical apart from that , my gpu is gtx 1080 ti might upgrade in another year, I am wondering which size would be best to get ? can you see more on the 49 inch than the 43 inch in game?
,

The 49 is a much higher resolution. Really it's difficult to say which is better to get, it kinda depends how big you want it to be and what resolution you are coming from. The 43 is like two 24 inch monitors side by side, the 49 is like two 27. The 49 is much harder to drive, so your 1080ti is going to struggle. You are talking in times of a 3080 really. Having said that, I don't think many games support that aspect ratio. I think honestly you would be far better getting a standard UW that's 21:9, especially since price wise they seem to be more mainstream than they were just a few short years ago.

I own the Samsung 49" powered by a 1070, it runs driving sims really well, albeit I am running sims from a few years ago (Raceroom Experience, Automobilista 1&2, Assetto Corsa). However I think if I tried say Microsoft Flightsim, Cyberpunk - it will struggle! Yes you can see more because of the resolution, I bought mine as I used to love triple screens for driving games, its a perfect replacement. In some cars you still have to glance right or left to view your furthest wingmirror (dependent on the car and how wide it is - or you can get around this and just change the FOV in game). Films or Netflix don't fill the screen, you will get borders.

I haven't tried The Witcher 3, Kingdom Come Deliverance, Red Dead Redemption which is next on the list, I think this is where the limitations of my PC will creep in so I'll have to accept that I need to reduce settings. I don't mind playing some games with borders (I play Quake 3 at 1600 x 1200). For sims which are a 4 years old - its amazing and works really well. It really depends on the games you intend to play, I also turn off all the artificial fancy stuff (blur, bloom etc) and AA (as the resolution is fine). For driving sims and shooters it is awesome. As @pp111 mentions, I chanced my purchase because I rarely buy any latest games (until I upgrade) so I was not too worried if I had to reduce some detail.

On the whole, It was a pleasant surprise that it works really well (better than I anticipated) but you may want to play some demanding games and therefore, you might need to upgrade or reduce detail/resolution.

I really would only use this for driving games , I like the dirt rally games have 4 and 5 and i will probably get 2.0 . ,ACC , forza , I am not limited as i do have another 2k monitor i can use if i needed for other games , I just think it would be nice to have that extra side view in racing games.

The resolutions look pretty similar to me, so you'll get a slightly sharper picture on the smaller screen.
Driving games are so much better on a very wide screen, the speed impression is enhanced by the extra width.
