My 27" QHD 144Hz G-sync display - the OG ASUS TN one - is getting long in the tooth and I've got the upgrade itch. I don't want to go 4k but fancy ultra wide with HDR. I do some video work so the extra space and better colour will have some use other than games too.

Is it worth it? What monitor would you recommend? I can't stretch to an OLED but is HDR10 good?

Convince me

Also for info @BS Dave the DWF has been on sale on Dells site for a few weeks and due to go back to full in a couple of days iirc, if you look on Hotdeals you'll find a link for a further 10% off code (Alienware Arena) taking it down to £710 plus you have Quid/Topcashback if you use them. At that pricing it's a really appealing option.

Under £700? It's still more than I was thinking of but it is an OLED I guess. Is burn in still a thing?
The Dell OLED is a good gaming/media monitor not necessarily the best production monitor due to the possible burn in with static screen elements.

Also you might not like the text presentation as it uses a non-standard pixel layout. Doesn't bother me but I mostly game with the occasional forum/browser sessions.

I've not had any issues using monitors with Freesync premium and nVidia GPUs. The DWF (Freesync) version of the Dell OLED can be firmware updated. The DW version cannot and the early revisions do have some glitches.

So basically I've just put you off buying one :)

I use my DWF for work, so plenty of MS office and Teams stuff and no issues with burn in. I let the monitor do it's refreshes when it wants and run in dark mode (I use dark mode anyway).

3 year warranty too, so if it does get burn, just get a new one from. Dell.

Interesting to hear it's been fine for office use. I tend to do a fair bit of text reading so was concerned about getting the DWF and thought about settling on the Neo G7.

Text isn't quite as clear as my old IPS scree, but after a couple of days I didn't notice. I also used a clear type app (can't remember the name, but it's mentioned in the main oled thread) which helped too.

I'll echo this. Use mine daily for development & office, and no issues with burn in yet. Text clarity is fine :). As above, it's not quite as crisp as a monitor with a standard RGB layout, but it's certainly far from unusable.
