Hi Guys,

I'm thinking of picking up an ultra-wide screen as an upgrade to my old BenQ 27".

I have managed to find what i believe to be a good deal with the Acer Predator 35" in the black Friday sales.

My problem at this point however is that i am concerned how games that don't support ultra-wide will fare on an ultra-wide screen. I have tried googling this and cannot find anything that helps me with this.

Are any of you able to let me know what I can expect?

I am running on a 2070 super so graphically my PC should be OK, I just don't want to lock myself out of some games due to no support.

Thanks in advance!

Games that don't support it at all just revert back to a 16:9 aspect ratio and you have black bars either side, which sound irritating but after a minute or two I never even notice it. I play Starcraft 2 a lot and you cannot play that in UW (at least on the ladder anyway, you can get a mod to play the campaigns in UW) and it really doesn't bother me at all.

Then there are games that whilst they might not explicitly support it there are often mods to get them to run in UW, through things like Flawless Widescreen. To be honest most modern games do support it natively now so its mostly an issue for older games and as I say most of these can be modded to support it.

Then there are those that natively support it and look absolutely amazing as a result, I absolutely love the UW form factor and am finding it a bit weird having to use my 16:9 display as my UW is currently in the process of being RMA'd due a fault.

So worst case scenario its black bars but that relatively rare. Best case is native support which is amazing to play, and then in the middle you might need to mod some games to force UW support. So it's a compromise for some games but with UW monitors becoming increasingly popular it's pretty much a given that anything coming out now will natively support UW resolutions.

Amazing, thanks for the feedback and help.

Order placed and should arrive by Monday!

Disappointed I couldn't get it through OCUK :(
