Ultra Wide vs S2716DG

I am so tempted to upgrade my S2716DG to an Acer Z35P.

I mostly play FPS, flight sims, grand strategy games.

Is this a wise choice, or should I stick with my Dell.

I actually had the Z35P on order but cancelled when I goggled some of the games I am playing through to find the widescreen support was patchy.

Currently playing Dark Souls and noticed that it appears a right pain in the bum to have it work in widescreen, and even then the HUD is stretched.

I don't know if the benefits outweigh this seeming pain of jumping through hoops for certain titles?

And then black bars on YouTube videos??

Is 3440x1440 really worth it for pure gaming?

yes, yes yes yes yes. and yes.

only annoying thing is that some older games don't support the ratio. but immersion cant be matched!

I went back to my S2716DG (though I've kept the UW on my desk along side). UW has its uses but for gaming I find I keep coming back to 2560x1440@120+Hz and not just for the Hz.

Everyone will be a little different though in that respect as to what they find the best.

I came the other way (LG from the Asus UW) and am enjoying the extra hz

Mentalists. Gsync plus 100hz+ plus ultrawide is sublime.

I had an Asus PG279Q 165Hz and swapped over to an Acer X34P 120Hz, Don't notice the Hz drop but gaming has gotten so so nice

I will find out on Monday with the Dell UW

Looking forward to it as my first IPS too. Noticed some annoying colour loss from a slight angle on the s27 earlier today.
