Hi all im still undecided on a new monitor, ive heard about Dells superior aftersales service and am seriously looking at this monitor https://www.overclockers.co.uk/dell...reen-led-monitor-midnight-grey-mo-080-de.html

Have any of you got first hand experience of this monitor?,it will be mostly used for gaming with my R9 390...games such as farcry 4 ,Witcher 3,fallout 4 etc..thank you in advance for any replies.

Best Regards adger

U2713HM owner here, had it a few years now and it's fine as a gaming monitor. Sure, you lose out on things like 144HZ and Free/GSync but the picture quality is fabulous and it's very sturdy and well built.

I don't get any noticable lag or ghosting either, I play a range of games. The maybe only slight downside is that the glow is noticable when displaying deep blacks but it depends on the person whether that will bother you.

I love mine so much that i'm resisting moving to GSync simply on the basis that I don't want to lose the panel in the U2713HM. I know there's an IPS option but hell will freeze over before I pay £700 on a screen.

Just waiting for delivery of this screen myself after reading many reviews it seems to be a very good monitor. As above, it's only 60hz but does have good colours and no ghosting reported.

Not much help but can report back once tested out if you are still deciding.

Rich.

Thanks for the advice Tute, yep ive seen an asus with ips and freesync but is it worth it over the Dell i dunno mate decisions, decisions haha...Rich id defo welcome your comments on the monitor when you receive it,best of luck with it pal.

Yep turned up and set up. Let me say this is my first 1440p monitor and although i can't game properly with it yet.

It comes very well boxed, and you can tell it's not a cheap monitor just by looking at the way it's packaged and how it looks out of the box.

It came with a driver installation CD, but was not needed as my pc detected and set the resolution automatically. Maybe the driver cd is for the USB ports built in?

Anyway, screen quality is just awesome, played a few videos on it, and the detail is amazing, you can't see the pixels at this res on this screen, considering i've been running 1080 for a good few years. There is so much screen space to work with.

The screen comes calibrated from the factory and for now i've left it standard until i get a decent GPU to run games properly (hopefully a 980ti). But, the colours in videos look really good.

Also no light bleed that i can notice, and no dead pixels either. I really could not be happier with this monitor for now. Especially at £350 from Ocuk.

Anything else i can help with let me know.

Rich.

Many thanks for replying Rich, you're certainly selling it to me pal,I'm bloody still dily dallying over 4 monitors. Your U2715H the smaller U2515H (80 Quid cheaper for 2 less inches). And both the Asus MG279Q IPS Rog a and the cheaper Asus MG278Q TN panelled Rog. The Dells certainly look awesome with fantastic after sales support and by the looks of my research very little issues with both dead pixels and backlight bleed. The Asus,s on the other hand have freesync support and 144Hz but..I've heard a lot of issues concerning the IPS version and the other model is a older TN panel but with excellent colours for a TN...aargh bloody monitors il get one decided soon haha. Many thanks for all your advice mate and I hope you're new monitor keeps you happy for many years pal..cheers

I also debated over getting the 25" version of mine, but thought i may regret not paying that extra for the larger screen. I also used to have a 27" Asus 1080 120hz TN panel and that was pretty good, but the colours on this are way better. As for speed, i think i can live with 60hz considering i only play FPS games occasionally, not exactly a pro gamer.

Good luck with your choice either way mate.

Rich.

I was going to get the 25" version.. But I see that the 27" is on offer at the moment.

Is it worth buying one now or will new Dell versions be coming out for 2016?

Dell will be launching new models this year (certainly the U2717H). Whether to wait or not is up to you really, the image performance of the U2715H is already rather solid so don't feel you'd be missing out much in that respect by not waiting.

Wow. The brightness on this monitor is ludicrous, my eyes are burning. Any recommended settings? Thanks

The colours start to look fishy when dropped further, white backgrounds are the worst for the brightness.
