Hi guys,

What are your opinions on changing between an 34" ultrawide 3440x1440 to a 32" 3840x2160 display?

I will be building a new rig with a 3080 this summer, so driving the 4K monitor in games won't be an issue. Appreciate that I would have to use at least 125% scaling for productivity with it though. I'm not worried about high refresh as I'm not an FPS gamer - just flight sims.

While I love my current monitor which I don't need to use scaling on, I would welcome the higher PPI on the 4k monitor. Although the ultrawide is wonderfully immersive in my flight sims.

Just after people's personal opinions.

Thank you.

Having used both 34" ultrawide 3440x1440 and a 32" 3840x2160, here's my experience -

32" 4k is too small for comfortable reading for me without scaling. If you have to use scaling though, then your effective usable screen area is actually less than the 34" ultrawide 3440x1440.

I'd stick with the 34" ultrawide 3440x1440, I think you'd regret swapping to a 32" 3840x2160. If you want to use 4k resolution without scaling, you might look at one of the 42-43" ones if it will fit :)

Thanks for the replies all. Having researched a little more, I think the best option for me would be a 38" 3840x1600 curved ultrawide as I really love the format for both productivity and immersion. I think a 42-43" 4K may look like a TV on my desk!

However, I won't rush as it's more of a want than a need right now, maybe later in the year :p
